Daily Routine and House Rules
REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
Regulation 5 – Engaging with the Wider System to Ensure Each Child's Needs are Met
The Quality and Purpose of Care StandardThe Children’s Homes each have a clear defined set of house rules that meet the needs of the children and young people that currently live there - see Statements of Purpose Procedure.
Team meetings and young people meetings are a forum where young people and adults can discuss issues relating to the house rules and daily routines.
A balance between planned activities and unoccupied time forms part of the daily routine.
The daily routine for each young person includes mealtimes and diet that reflects religious and spiritual observances and needs.
Placement Plans/Positive Handling Plans may impact on the daily routines and house rules for any young person.
It is acknowledged that most young people admitted to a children’s home will rebel against the daily routines and house rules. This can be addressed by mutually identifying reward systems and incentives - see Additional Measures Procedure.
